How to: Buy shares easily and where to get good advice, information and tips

May 11th, 2009

Are you looking at buying shares for the first time? not sure where or how you go about it? if so, then this article is for you…

Where can I buy shares from?

www.iii.co.uk
This is my preferred site. London Stock costs £10 per buy or sell and there service is very reliable. It works out all your percentage gains and average share prices you paid for your stock and calculates this taking into account the fee’s you have paid too which is great.

www.selftrade.co.uk/
Very popular site, £12 per trade. The cost is decreased if you trade regularly on your account. The statistics and calculations are not as good as iii though.

You can buy shares through your banks and many other places but be careful as many of them take a percent of your profits. The two above don’t!

Where can i get a good source of information?

www.lse.co.uk

www.britishbulls.com

www.ft.com/home/uk

www.telegraph.co.uk/finance

When is a good time to buy shares?

Now!!! Credit crunch or no credit crunch, now is a good time to buy as the markets have crashed and you can quite easily pick up a 300% return on a single share! SOLG, WHY and RENE are a perfect example of this recently.

Things to watch out for

pump and dump shares
rumours
high spread
low volume
